Carine Jenkins – Soprano
Carine is a soprano singing with the Sydney Philharmonia Choir, having been a member of the Chamber Choir, touring to the U.K. for the British Proms and soloist in Australia House and in St. Paul’s Cathedral. At present, she is preparing for performances of ‘Belshazzar’sFeast’ and the concert given by Andrea Bocelli in September.
She has sung in 46 Operas as a full time member of Opera Australia from 1974 – 1982 as a chorister with principal roles for ‘Echo’ in Ariadne auf Naxos, 2nd boy in ‘Magic Flute’ and ‘Emmie’ in Albert Herring. The role of ‘Pamina’ in Magic Flute at the Sydney
Conservatorium Opera School in 1972.
Carine was a student of Elsie Findlay, Beatrice Webster, Graham Macintosh and lately, Lenard Whiting in Toronto, singing in the Tryptych Choir and Oriana Singers. Carine also plays pipe organ, having studied with Robert Smith and lately, Peter Kneeshaw.
From 1984 to 2013 Carine was Head of Music at Pymble Ladies’ College. She was Musical Director for Classic Department productions also and has undertaken extensive International Concert Tours for many years with the School Ensembles, including study of Romance Languages.
The Beecroft Orchestra, under the direction of Allan Stiles, played a very important role in years past, for developing performance in Carine’s singing career. Repertoire of Richard Strauss, Mozart, Puccini and Dvorak was performed with this orchestra.
