The Beecroft Orchestra
The Beecroft Orchestra is an amateur community orchestra with about 40 members who rehearse weekly at Carlingford High School and perform at St Albans church Epping quarterly. As a volunteer organization, we rely solely on our box office and fundraising efforts to fund our four concerts a year.
Tax deductible donations are gratefully accepted and can be targeted for specific outcomes such as the premiere of a new piece or a solo performance opportunity for a young artist. We aim to provide the opportunity for local amateur musicians of all ages and backgrounds to come together to play classical orchestral music and deliver well-priced concerts to the local community. Traveling to Retirement Villages and Nursing homes to perform outside our normal venue enables more members of the community to hear our music.
The Orchestra’s programming is varied and challenging. We occasionally perform choral works with local choir singers and soloists.
There are no auditions, but we welcome new players of a standard generally of about AMEB grade 5 and above. We believe passionately in the benefits that come from Uniting people through music and also try to give young solo performers, composers and conductors opportunities to showcase their work with the orchestra.
During COVID we joined with friends and recorded Elena Kats-Chernin “Dance of the Paper Umbrellas”. You can listen to it here.
In our last Concert, Jeffrey Cheah played the beautiful Rodrigo guitar concerto “Fantasia para un Gentilhombre”. You can hear it here.
